Reason 1: Ungrounded Outlets
This is the most logical and common reason behind buzzing electrical wires and equipment. If you hear static noise from speakers when moving mouse, this may just be the case.
There’s electricity running in ungrounded outlets most of the time. The running electricity may be causing static noise when moving mouse. It can indicate other symptoms in your speakers as well.
For example, your fridge and speakers may be connected to the same ungrounded outlet. In that case, you may hear popping sounds on the speaker while shutting down the fridge.
Any problems concerning ungrounded outlets may seem complex to fix. However, in reality, it’s pretty easy. I’ve given the solution below, check it out!

- Firstly, check for power in your outlet and insert one probe of your circuit tester inside your outlet. If the power indicator lights up, that means it has electricity running inside it.
- Secondly, test the ground of your outlet. Insert one of the probes into the small slot of your outlet. Insert the second probe inside the ground hole. The hole should be of the shape of a “U”.
- After inserting the probes, if the indicator lights up, it’ll mean the outlet is grounded. If it doesn’t light up, your outlet is ungrounded. If your outlet is ungrounded, proceed to the next segment.

Say, for example, you have a speaker on your desk. The other speaker should be at the very end of the desk or on the ground. You can also create another wooden/metal shelf and put the speakers there.
You should also get a reputable brand’s electronic devices. Make sure the devices are tested to prevent the emission of excessive EMI emissions.
Doubling up speaker wires can also be a great solution. It will reduce the chances of EMI and increase the longevity of the wires as well!
Another important thing to do here is regarding the mouse. If the cables from your speaker and mouse are overlapping, try to fix it. Similarly, with overlapping headphone and mouse wires, you may hear headphone static when moving mouse.
Simple cable management will help you get rid of this issue. Set up your cables in a way where no cable overlaps one another. Also, make sure your cables are shielded. Otherwise, they won’t be able to prevent the EMI from emitting.

Now, unclean PC components can cause a lot of problems. For instance, dirty RAMs and GPU cards can be the reason for dysfunctional RAM and GPU!
Similarly, these dirty components can easily produce static sound when moving mouse.
The speakers are connected to the sound card, which is connected to the motherboard. Accordingly, these two components are the main culprit for problems relating to speakers.
